Episode 1

DANCES OF TURKEY

 

In the series premiere photographer Paula Lobo meets the dancers from the famous Turkish company Anadolu Atesi and attends a sema ceremony in Istambul. In Capadoccia, she photographs a gipsy group at a cave and Brazilian-born Clara Sussekind at a Turkish bath.

Episode 3

DANCES OF KYOTO - JAPAN

 

Paula travels to Hakone to visit an authentic Geisha school and then goes to Kyoto to meet Heidi Durning, a performer that mixes traditional and modern dance. She photographs butoh dancer Yurabe Masami and, back in Tokyo, takes two ballerinas to Shibuya crossing for her final photo shoot.

Episode 5

DANCES OF MADRID - SPAIN

 

In an episode dedicated to flamenco, "Mundo Em Movimento" meets Carmem "La Talagona" at one of Madrid's most traditional "tablados". Paula visits Amor de Diós, one of the city's well-known dance schools, and photographs modern dancer Allan Falieri at Museo Reina Sofia.

Episode 7

DANCES OF MEXICO

While visiting Mexico City, Paula photographs an original "fandango" and learns about the role of the folkloric dances today. She also meets Mexico En Colores, a gay dance troupe that puts a modern and fun spin on traditional Mexican dances.​

Episode 9

DANCES OF PUERTO RICO

 

In San Juan, "Mundo em Movimento" explores the original Puerto Rican dances like plena and bomba. Paula also meets salsa dancers and learns more about the connection between the country's Latin traditions with their ever present American influence.

Episode 11

DANCES OF BUENOS AIRES - ARGENTINA

 

In Buenos Aires to explore the tango Paula meets several world champions and gets a private class at an original milonga (a tango ball with live music). From Fernanco Gracia, she also learns about the "tango de varones", an all man form of tango.

Episode 2

DANCES OF TOKYO

 

Upon arriving in Japan, Paula photographs a private performance from award-winning dancer Motoi Hanayagi. She visits Tokyo's Tsukiji Fish Market and spends a whole day seeing the backstage of the National Ballet of Tokyo. The episode also shows the modern side of dance in Japan.

Episode 4

DANCES OF LAS VEGAS - USA

 

In Las Vegas Paula colaborates with body painting artist Julia Parrot for a photo shoot at Red Rock Canyon featuring a Cirque du Soleil's acrobat. The show visits the backstage of "The Beatles LOVE" and "Vegas! The Show." Paula does a shoot with Zumanity's Wassa Coulaby at a cactus nursery.

Episode 6

DANCES OF INDIA


Paula visits four cities in India, meeting one of the most famous dancing families in the country, the Reddys. She photographs dances like the bavai, kathak and odissi, ending her journey at a dance festival set at traditional temple in the holy village of Pushkar.

Episode 8

DANCES OF MOROCCO

 

In Marrakech, Paula meets French choreographer Amelie Elbaz, founder of Stella Spectacles, and acclaimed modern dancer Taoufiq Izzediou. She visits an Arabic neighborhood to photograph a traditional Moroccan dance gets to see an original trance ceremony at private home.

Episode 10

DANCES OF NEW YORK - USA

In the hometown Paula Lobo photographs tap dancers improvising with a live Jazz band. The episode features the Martha Graham company and the work of choreographer Noemie Lafrance. Paula takes 30 classical dancers to a carousel in Brooklyn for a "dreamy" photo shoot.

Episode 12

DANCES OF HONOLULU - HAWAII

 

On the island of Oahu, Paula gets an introduction to the hula dance in several different forms: traditional, modern, all-male. She visits a unique hippie compound to photograph aerialist Andrea Torres and gets a hula class at a traditional dance school in Honolulu.

Episode 13

DANCES OF BIG ISLAND - HAWAII

 

In the season finale of "Mundo Em Movimento", Paula decides to go to Big Island, where she learns more about the spiritual side of hula. Featuring fire dances and a ceremony at the Mauna Loa volcano, the episode concludes the series with a magical feel.
