GABY GRINGA

"Gaby Gringa" is a TV series following the first international tour of Brazilian superstar Gaby Amarantos, while she prepares for a major concert at New York's Central Park SummerStage. Known as the "queen of tecnobrega," an electronic music style from the Amazon region, she is currently Brazil's most unique female star and a bonafide ambassador for her state's culture. Influenced by her local roots and the culture of Jurunas (a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Bélem, in he north of Brazil), she is at the epicenter of a vibrant music scene that created its own self-sustainable industry. Following the example of other musical styles created in Brazil's poorest neighborhoods (like Favela Funk), Tecnobrega is a fusion of electronic dance music and Brazilian elements.
